Can A Std Test Be Wrong?
An STD can be wrong, but it is unusual. STD tests can either give false positives, where a test shows that you have a disease but you don’t, or, more commonly, an STD test will give you a false negative. A false negative is when a test shows that you do not have an STD that you do in fact have. The cause of a false negative is often testing too early after an unprotected sexual encounter.
